Costa Rica Vacation Testimonial – Susan and Dennis Billings

We had an absolutely fantastic trip! Thanks so much for setting things up for us.

It made it so easy to have the cars waiting at the airports.

We had a wonderful welcome at Casa Bella Rita. Rita and Steve made us feel so comfortable. We flew from there to Tortuguero, where we loved staying in the little village. It was a great place to talk to local people, and a lot of Europeans (not just other norteamericanos!). We then flew back to San Jose and picked up the car. We paid extra for the GPS, and we were sure glad we did. It really helped, especially when we drove from Arenal to Monteverde. The Arenal Observatory Lodge was incredible. Thanks so much for getting us the Smithsonian room (#19) with an amazing view of the volcano. It poured for about 4 hours after we got there, but then it cleared up and we had a perfect view of the volcano. Dennis stayed up most of the night taking pictures.

The next day we moved to the Hotel Mountain Paradise. We loved our room; it was so comfortable and the showers were fun. The swim-up bar in the pool was a trip, we’d never been at one before.

We drove to Monteverde from Arenal, a beautiful drive around the lake, and then an adventure! Fortunately, we left early so we arrived before the usual afternoon downpour.

We caught the flight to La Paloma, and then it was pamper city. What a fabulous place! It was definitely the highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. The room was extremely comfortable. We had room D which was at the far end of the “budget” rooms, and had a wrap-around porch with a hammock. (They did offer to move us to a fancier room for our last night, but we declined.) The food was great, the tour guide knowledgeable, and everyone was so accommodating and helpful.

When we flew to Quepos our car was waiting for us at the airport. We drove to Manuel Antonio and checked into Hotel Espadilla. It was lovely: clean, comfortable, convenient. We walked to the National Park, restaurants, and shops. It doesn’t have the view that the hotels up the hill had, but it doesn’t have the price tag either! The beach was lovely.

The GPS was a lifesaver when we drove back to Casa Bella Rita. It was so wonderful to come back to the same place, they felt like old friends!

Overall, we saw so much wildlife, and I am so inspired with new lessons and material for my classroom next year.

Thank you so, so much for all your help in planning this trip, especially all the car rental details. It really eased our minds and made the trip very low stress. We’re already talking about our next trip!
