Spotlight Costa Rica – Hotel Grano de Oro a Gem in San Jose
I know that not many people thinks of San Jose of Costa Rica as a touristic destination, but this city has many interesting and fun activities. In case you decide to spend some time in this area I recommend a beautiful and elegant hotel Called Hotel Grano de Oro. It is Located in Paseo Colon, San Jose’s main thoroughfare. It is an excellent hotel for family vacations and honeymoons.
You will find the hotel in what used to be a Tropical Victorian mansion and was turned into a beautiful 40-room hotel.
Grano de Oro Hotel has an elegant and warm decoration in the hallways you will see many pictures from the mansion’s old days. In this hotel there is also a restaurant that serves some tropical and European dishes.
The rooms all have a beautiful and warm decoration too. Plus the service is good, every member of the staff is friendly and welcoming. Another really important thing that I have to mention is that this hotel has a non-smoking policy.
This is one of my favorite hotels in San Jose, so if you ever go there let me know how it went.

Here’s what people have to say about them and if you don’t believe them, I dare you to try it!
The staff is very attentive; we used this hotel as a base camp and would keep returning after several days on a rafting trip or other excursions; the staff kept our main luggage; and was always very helpful. The rooms are little cozy but ask for the deluxe suites with a garden and waterfall outside and you won’t be disappointed; the dining room is relaxed, elegant and excellent. ask for the Chateaubriand. The neighborhood is disappointing, but safe and taxis are readily available to whisk you away to Escazu restaurants or nearby coffee plantations. Just avoid the cheapest rooms down by the lobby. Otherwise the rooms are quiet and wonderful
And
We spent two nights at the Grano de Oro and loved it. The staff was extremely helpful, efficient, and friendly (as was everyone we met in Costa Rica), our room was one of the nicest we’ve had anywhere, the bed was comfortable, and the food was delicious.
