Hotel Meson de Maria is a wonderful luxury hotel in Guatemala‘s jewel, Antigua Guatemala. This is a place to relax and enjoy the local culture between mountains and volcanoes.

Let me tell you that when you get to this hotel‘s entrance your first reaction will be is this it? Are you sure? but wait until you’re inside you will find yourself in a beautiful colonial house with gorgeous corridors with a great decoration but the best of it all is its terrace from where I can assure by my own experience that you will be amazed by the views of the Agua volcano over the roofs.

One thing that made me love even more this place is its amazing service, everyone is so nice and helpful here plus most of them speak English.

Hotel Meson de Mari­a is also in one of the best spots for a hotel in Antigua, it’s surrounded by many stores and restaurants, and to get to Antigua’s Central Park you will only have to walk a block, as if this wasn’t enough it’s also 3 blocks away from The Arc one of Antigua’s most recognized icons around the globe.

We stayed at Hotel Meson de Maria for 3 nights in late October, which was our first trip to Guatemala, and loved this hotel.

Hotel gives you 2 free bottles of water per day, which was greatly appreciated, since tap water in Guatemala is not safe to drink.

The included breakfasts were delicious (especially the local coffee). We tried the “tipico” and the American style breakfast, which were both very good.

The staff were outstanding in every way. They arranged a private shuttle for us to and from the airport, and were very helpful with recommendations and catering to our every need. (The desk staff also speak very good English).

The hotel was beautiful, with plenty of sitting areas to enjoy the cool mountain air and a bottle of wine. The roof deck was amazing for just relaxing and taking in the view of the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

Perhaps the best part of this hotel is the location, just one block from the central plaza, and just around the corner from any number of restaurants and shops.

Many times I have traveled to Central America, I always get tired of the hotels being to Marriott type. I knew hotels in Antigua were different and were going to offer me a little more comfort for my stay. But I never expected the amazing service, quality and staff service ever. I felt pampered since the day I wrote my email request, to the day I got on my shuttle to return home. I was delighted to stay in Mesón de María, and I am happy to make a review for such a charming hotel. I recommend the deluxe suites if you visit. I see that people complain about the price, but come on, it´s Antigua Guatemala!! This hotel is not only close to everything, but also quiet and relaxing. The terrace was my everyday morning ritual. The view from the hotel is a spectacular site to see and visit. Two thumbs up for this hotel. Loved it and I am definitely coming back.
