Family Travel – Perfect Family Dinner At Cuevita de los Urquizu in Antigua Guatemala

To be the perfect hosts, we took my brother, who was visiting us, out on the town. With a 5 year old, for an exciting night out in Antigua Guatemala. We were expecting either a lot of whining, too much climbing on everything (my son is more of a monkey than human at times), some serious refusals to eat anything at all, and complaining that he is tired and wants to go home.

So you can imagine our total surprise when our night turned out to be perfect!

We decided my brother should get a taste of traditional Guatemalan food. Quite frankly, I’ve been living here for over 2 months and have yet to try some serious authentic Guatemalan cuisine. One restaurant stands above the rest in Antigua – La Cuevita de los Urquiza, 2 Calle Oriente 9D!

At the entrance you get to chose what you want! You get 2 choices of meats, and then salads.

Then of course you can order drinks, so we got a bottle of wine. There was 4 of us, so we went nuts and they just loved us.

Only we didn’t know HOW MUCH THEY LOVED US until they led us to the rooftop where we had the best seats in the house, and a great view.

They even gave us two waiters who never got in the way, but were always around when we needed them.

But the best part, my son enjoyed the food, was able to climb all over the place without bothering us, and we enjoyed one of the best meals in one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever lived in!
