Spotlight Costa Rica! Arenal Observatory Lodge – A Room With A View!
By
Picture this: You arrive to a place that is in the middle of the tropical rain forest. From unseen corners you hear welcoming howls of the howler monkeys and colorful hummingbirds whiz by you as you walk on a trail that brings you directly in front of one of the top ten most active volcanoes in the world.
Better, yet! This is where you’re going to stay for the next few nights! As you get ready for bed and lay snugly on your plush king size bed, instead of turning on the TV you get to watch your own private lava show right out your window!
Welcome to Arenal Observatory Lodge!
The views of Volcano Arenal are great from La Fortuna towards the volcano. But, the real beauty is when you drive 45 minutes southeast. Situated on a ridge, AOL, is 120 meters above Lake Arenal. Due to it’s location, you can view the lava flow and never be affected by it. Even the way the wind blows, the ashes never get carried to this side of the Volcano.
The hotel has some of the most beautiful grounds of the area, and also trails that will delight any nature lover. One is following an ancient lava trail and the other is to a 20-foot waterfall where you can jump in and get refreshed!
If you’re coming to Arenal, stay at AOL, you’ll never have another experience like it!

Here’s what people have to say about them and if you don’t believe them, I dare you to try it!
We spent two nights at the Arenal Observatory Lodge and wished it had been longer. Our biggest surprise was how beautiful and well kept the grounds of the lodge are. They own over 800 acres with enough trails to keep you busy. The pool area and large Jacuzzi are very clean and nicely set with the woods in the background.Probably one of our most memorable stays in Costa Rica. We stayed here at the beginning of our trip and witnessed some pretty fantastic rumblings and lava flows from the volcano. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful flowers and wildlife right outside your room.

I have always wanted to see that volcano. That lodge looks incredible. Is it pretty expensive? It doesn't really matter, for a once in a lifetime opportunity, I think that I would be interested in staying for a night even if it was. Gorgeous!
