Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero Costa Rica

Mawamba Lodge, in Tortuguero was so awesome, I decided to dedicate a whole blog post to it. Even though the tour was three days and two nights long which gave me a great feel for the park and village, I could’ve stayed another whole week just chillin’ out at the lodge.
The grounds cover over fifteen square hectares, and are full of hiking trails, butterfly gardens, and frog ponds.

The majority of the rooms were two double beds with private bath and patio. But if you like the VIP treatment, you’ll get all that you need and more. A section of the hotel was designated specifically for VIP visitors and honeymoon suites. These cabins were furnished with comfy king size beds and Jacuzzis. Plus you are served breakfast in bed while listening to birds singing and monkeys howling.
We had the pleasure of getting a private tour with the manager. He took us to the extremely successful butterfly garden full of morphos. They fluttered their wings in the expansive space full of flowers and reproduced at extraordinary rates. Next, he took us to the frog pond where they reproduce and introduce local frog specimens into nature. My son was in froggy heaven.
We finished off the tour by checking out the convention center and enjoying a fruity cocktail by the pool/bar area.

Now you know why I didn’t want to leave!
