At the foothills of Volcano Arenal, one of the ten most active volcanoes of the world, is the town of La Fortuna. From here to Lake Arenal, the largest man-made lake in Costa Rica, is a beautiful road dotted with hotels, natural hot springs and parks.

In a private reserve right before the lake is one of those can’t-miss-this activities for the whole family: The Hanging Bridges of Arenal.

The bridges are part of a trail that takes you through the rainforest. Some bridges are about 100 meters off the ground, you can look down and see the forest’s canopy, rivers and creeks. But the best part is the view all around you:

What a view!! It must be fun and scaring at the same time to cross the bridge.

Looks like a great adventure.
The only time I ever remember being in a rain forest was when we went to Alaska…beautiful country and quite not like what I’m used to around here.

We loved watching the sparks coming out of Arenal at night. Shame my husband lost his new wedding ring in the hot springs. Eight years on, I've just about forgiven him!
