Sierpe is a great stopover if you’re traveling around southern Costa Rica. You’ll be truly surprised by the beauty of this river hamlet. The entire town, more or less, borders the river where the majority of activity occurs. And with all the tours leaving from here, you won’t get bored.
The main reasons for our stopover:
.
1. It’s a great place to stop midway between San Jose and the Osa Peninsula.
2. Our boat to Cano Island leaves from here.
Before arriving, I made reservations at a tiny hotel on the other side of the river. The only way to get there is with the owner, Johnny, and his boat. The three room hotel is on a beautifully manicured property with a lot of bird action to keep you busy for hours in the morning.
