Photo Friday Celebrating Costa Ricas Independence Day

On September 15 Costa Rica, along with the rest of Central America, celebrate their Independence Day. Basically, all this means is that kids dress up super cute for their schools and block traffic for a good portion of the day walking around in different parades banging, very loudly, on drums.

I’m certain no one at all can give you an answer as to why they do this, nor what they are representing. Regardless, it’s great fun and one of the cutest and sweetest experiences. I had the great joy of walking alongside my son as he carried a sign which turned to be a pain in his butt after three minutes and then I had the not-so-great-joy to carry it for the next hour.
