An African safari in Costa Rica, are you sure? Yes I am! Located a few miles outside of Liberia, on the way to all the hottest beach destinations of the Guancaste province.

Before the grand experience of riding through the ‘Plains of Africa’ you get to join in the feeding frenzy of ostriches, camels and deer. As long as the ostriches don’t bite your fingers off or the Africa Mia an African Safari in Costa Ricacamel doesn’t spit at you (it does happen, but super rarely), you’ll get an insider view of just how hungry these animals really are.

Since it’s impossible to satiate these animals, the tour continues inside the plains and up close to zebras and gazelle. It’s the closest you’ll ever get to these animals so make sure to take a ton of pictures, I know I did. I even got the grand opportunity to see a mama zebra nursing her baby.

Africa Mia an African Safari in Costa RicaAs much as I enjoyed the show, nothing will top the finale. Giraffes! Whenever I think of this docile animal I simply think of how unique and gorgeous they are. However, when this magnificent creature is literally eating leaves out of your lap and giving you butterfly kisses with its long eyelashes, when you get the true sense of it. The gentleness in which it moves, the absolute harmlessness and tenderness that it exudes overcomes you and when you arrive back at the main building you can’t help but have a silly grin on your face.

I’ve been to many safari’s (never in Africa) but none leave you feeling this giddy, and its all because of the GIRAFFE! (At least it was for me.) What was weird for me was the amount if times we switched cars.

However, I do want to state something! This tour is $60 and not worth the money. As I said, I’ve been to my share of safaris and they all had predator animals. There weren’t any here. Plus, the collection is so small that they can’t even fill the two hour tour and take you on a whimsy hike to a small waterfall. As much as I loved the Giraffes, I wasn’t pleased with the amount of money they charge per person and the lack of animals to back up the price!
