Relocating – Relocating from Costa Rica to Guatemala
As most of you have figured out I’m about to relocate from Costa Rica, my home for the past 6 years, to Guatemala.
I know this sounds romantic and fun and adventurous. To an extent it is. However, when I moved first to Costa Rica, it was an easy transition. It was just me and my new husband starting a new life. Granted it was in Costa Rica and not next door to my parents in the midst of some suburbia. Regardless, it was quite easy and painless. Now it’s a bit different. I have a son to think about. Plus, the older you get the less you want to live in cheap places where roaches share the same floor as your mattress. Plus, in Guatemala you have to be extra careful. Cause, let’s face it, it’s not like moving to Singapore where if you spit gum on the ground they cane you a 1000 times. On the contrary, it’s DANGEROUS and the police are the ones to be more afraid of!

So, with all this in mind, I have to really take cautious and calculating steps so I don’t f**k up my son’s education for life, like I have been told a number of times by certain blood relatives! No pressure there. Plus, I need to make sure I live in a super gated community, inside a gated community, inside a gated community. Yeah, that’s going to be easy to find sitting in my cozy, safe haven in Costa Rica.
So, we’re off to Guatemala to seek out the best of the best, for not the highest prices!
I’ll be writing regular posts, explaining the relocation process step by step!
